Undergraduate goes bitter on Nigeria Educational system

To correctly access the well being of individuals, one should consider factors such as Literacy rate, Life expectancy, health care systems, etc.
One might be quick to jumping into conclusion that literacy rate in Nigeria has tremendously increased compared to how it was in the 1950;s where only 3 persons in a community of over 1000 can boast of having primary school certificates, this is not far from the truth. However the school system in modern day Nigeria is 17th century in Nature not up to modern standard. In the Nigeria schools today,it is still visible to see a 400l Accounting student working on manual ledgers when on the contrary it can be done on a computer using spreadsheet packages. The student might make a First(1st) Class and be termed intelligent, but his intelligence is over limited because he cannot compete with modern standards of ICT in Accounting.
This no more less is the reasons why multinational organisations in Nigeria claim that schools here produce unemployable graduates lacking ICT skills which is now being use in tackling world complex problems today.

From this perspective, it is visible to the deaf an audible to the blind that despite Nigeria's literacy rate increases year in and out, this rate increases at a decreasing rate. This backwardness can be attributed to the fact that the government has turned a blind eye to the development of the educational sector because of the high returns he generates from the petroleum sector. This on the long run erodes potential future personnel equipped with the resource to tackle issues more effectively.

The government of Nigeria should follow the paths of Ambrose Alli University Vice chancellor who in the awn of reality introduced computer base exams placing the institution on a path to intellectual greatness via ICT.Hopes are also very high that the school would soon commence e-lecturing.
The government in towing this path should reorganise schools curriculum making "computer practises" compulsory. The long run effect of this is the production of future ICT experts combined with professionals in handling economic affairs. The spillover effect of this action appropriate supply of require technical know-how in the industrial sector.
We are still backward because the government does not understand forward.
